Michael joined Bowlts in July 2002 to lend support to the busy Building Department. Attending college and university as a mature student, Michael completed a one year access course at Glasgow College of Building and Printing prior to gaining a Degree in Building Design and Engineering at the University of Strathclyde. The studies involved in this course have given Michael a thorough understanding of structural and environmental engineering and how to integrate these into the design process.

Michael currently holds the position of Senior Architectural Technician and his duties include the measured survey of sites and buildings, preparation and submission of planning and building warrant applications including contract administration on site through to completion.

Michael takes the lead in our land survey department where he is responsible for undertaking measured surveys and setting out works including roads, drainage and construction sites, preparation of title plans to Registers of Scotland standard, preparation of lease plans and forestry mapping. This work involves use of the latest computer software and hardware including AutoCAD 2007 ADT, Arcview GIS 9.0, Trimble GPS and Robotic Total Station, and Terramodel.

Qualifications: City and Guilds Level 3 in Computer Aided Design
ONC in the Built Environment
Degree of Bachelor of Technology in Building Design and Engineering from University of Strathclyde .
