LISTED BUILDINGS …… ARE YOU PROPERLY INSURED?

Owners of Listed buildings, including farm and estate buildings, are reminded to check sums insured for any buildings.

If damaged by fire or anything else, a Listed building must be replaced as it was and thus insurance must reflect the cost of stone and slate construction, plus decorative details and features, both inside and out if necessary.

Beware insurance taken out with a mortgage since general insurance valuations do not always offer the necessary cover to replace a Listed building to the standards required by local authorities or Historic Scotland.

If in doubt check the level of cover you hold and get a revaluation for insurance purposes ..... and peace of mind!
