Landowners are thus advised to check through their titles, making an inventory of writs, listing servitudes and identifying all feudal interests either benefiting or burdening their land. Liaison with your agent and solicitor is advised in order that feudal real burdens which will continue to benefit the property you own today are preserved, most commonly those immediately adjacent to or very close to property currently owned. It is anticipated that there will be a relatively short timescale in which this has to be done once the bill is enacted and preparatory work done now is likely to be of considerable benefit, especially where titles are old, scattered and, frequently, very complex.
