CAUSE FOR CELEBRATION AS INCIDENTS OF BIRD POISONING REDUCE

The Wildlife and Natural Environment (WANE) Act 2011 introduced a new vicarious liability offence for certain wildlife crimes whereby a shooting land owner or manager may be liable for the crimes committed by an employee, agent or contractor under their management or control. The new offence came into force on 1 January 2012.
Recent statistics released by the Government show a dramatic decrease in the number of bird poisoning incidents in Scotland since the WANE Act came into force.
So far in 2012, two birds of prey have been confirmed dead of illegal poisoning. 2011 saw 10 confirmed incidents (with the loss of 16 birds of prey) and 2010 saw 22 incidents (with the loss of 28 birds of prey).

Due to an increasing workload, we are looking to expand our rural practice department. Our office is based at Pluscarden, near Elgin, Moray. We currently have a staff of 15 and our core activity is property consultancy and rural estate management.
We are currently accepting applications for both a Rural Practice Chartered Surveyor as well as a Trainee Chartered Surveyor.
The successful applicants will join our rural practice team, which consists of four fully qualified land agents. Both positions are full-time, working Monday to Friday, and salary will be negotiable depending on experience.
