WAGE INCREASE CONFIRMED FOR AGRICULTURAL WORKERS

Further to our news article at the end of May, the Scottish Agricultural Wages Board has now confirmed details of increases to the minimum hourly rate for agricultural workers and hourly rates of pay for agricultural apprentices.

The Board met on 22nd August to consider 10 written representations received against its initial proposals for change, however agreed to proceed with the proposals that were published in May of this year.

Taking effect from 1st October 2012, the details are:-

- workers in first 26 weeks of employment; not less than £6.22 per hour
- workers employed for more than 26 weeks; not less than £6.86 per hour
- hourly rate of not less than £3.81 per hour for workers during the first 12 months of employment who  undertake a Level 2 Modern Apprenticeship in Agriculture;
- the additional sum payable to workers who have appropriate qualifications will be £1.04 per hour;
- the dog allowance will also increase to £5.20 per week for each dog up to a maximum of 4.

RURAL PRACTICE CHARTERED SURVEYOR AND TRAINEE CHARTERED SURVEYOR POSITIONS

Due to an increasing workload, we are looking to expand our rural practice department. Our office is based at Pluscarden, near Elgin, Moray. We currently have a staff of 15 and our core activity is property consultancy and rural estate management.

We are currently accepting applications for both a Rural Practice Chartered Surveyor as well as a Trainee Chartered Surveyor.

The successful applicants will join our rural practice team, which consists of four fully qualified land agents. Both positions are full-time, working Monday to Friday, and salary will be negotiable depending on experience.
